The concept of Russian gastronomic weeks is aimed at:

  • strengthening cultural and business ties between the participating countries

  • popularization of the participating countries as the attractive tourist destinations with demonstration of their tourist potential

  • presentation of Russian national cuisine, regional food and beverages to foreign audiences,

  • drawing attention to regional investment projects in the hospitality industry,

  • promoting the growth of trade turnover between the participating countries, exports of food, beverages and services

Russian Gastronomy Weeks (RGW) invariably receive the most positive feedback from the officials of the participating countries, business representatives, heads of professional organizations, opinion makers, experts and the general audience. RGW events are widely covered in Russian and foreign media of various profiles and formats (please see "Publications").

In 2019, the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy plans to hold Russian Gastronomy Weeks in Armenia, Austria, Lebanon and Uzbekistan.

Russian Gastronomy Weeks (RGW) is a project on promotion of gastronomy culture of Russia in foreign countries, which is implemented since 2015 by the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy (ICWAG, Moscow), headed by its President Leonid Gelibterman.

Major gastronomic project from is Russia implemented by the ICWAG with the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, Federal Agency for Tourism (Russiatourism) and with assistance of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia, Russian National Culinary Association and other leading Russian professional associations and unions.

In 2018, the Russian Gastronomy Week was held abroad for the fourth time. Thus, in 2015 RGW was hosted in Madrid (Spain), in 2016 — in Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), in 2017 — in Nicosia and Limassol (Cyprus).

In 2018, the Russian Gastronomy Week took place in the Greek Republic, in Athens and Kerkyra (Corfu), in the official framework of the Cross-year of tourism "Russia-Greece". Post event press release about the project.
